Perigee Dreaming

Beware the hoardes and masses
who fear the loss of fashion
and pour over glossy pages
in search of this season’s successes.

Strange that someone,
who doesn’t possess a bosom
would strap me into a bodice
and declare it
“fabulous darling!”
and kiss me on both cheeks.

Queen Size

I do not tread lightly upon the earth.

I am not a wasp waisted waif,

calibrating fat grams,

and running to the gym to work away guilt.

I have large arms that can cradle a crying baby,

and big legs which can wrap around tightly,

to hold a lover gripped in the ecstasy,

of being alive.

I am Queen Size.

Or, why not pharaoh?

In the tradition of Hatshepsut,

erased from the list of kings,

but even still,

history records me,

I am too substantial

to fade into obscurity.
